Tom Robertshaw’s quarterly eCommerce survey reveals astonishing numbers for Magento, 3rd year in a row!

Magento Development
How it works is the survey takes the list of Alexa Top 1 Million sites only to analyze the platform signatures. Research detected 34,864 eCommerce sites out of which 26% are using Magento.

To emphasize on the incredible Magento growth story, this is a 30% increase in the market share since the February 2012 report. Furthermore, this year the survey also included the top 100,000 busiest sites and found that Magento powers 28% of the store sites on that list!

Magento founder, Roy Rubin explains this phenomenon via customer success. And we could not agree more.

For store owners who are managing hundreds of products, have innovative ideas and are ready to invest their time and money, Magento is the best platform to enable fast business growth!

If we look at the numbers for other platforms, a clear decline is visible as they are not powerful and innovative enough to meet an eCommerce store needs in today’s fast and hectic economy.

For example, the second most popular ecommerce platform in the Alexa Top 1 Million, VirtueMart, has experienced a slight decline from 3,657 to 3,324. At 4th position we have Zen Cart whose popularity is dropping significantly with almost 2,000 sites less as opposed to last survey.

By the end of this quarter we expect to see a continued decline in Zen Cart and VirtueMart as store owners across the globe choose to migrate to Magento.
